01 — Summary
This Privacy Policy explains how Hookvale Games Pty Ltd ("Hookvale," "we," "us," or "our") — a proprietary limited company registered in Australia — collects, uses, and protects personal information when you visit hookvalegames.com, contact us, or take part in a playtest.
We're a small studio and we'd rather collect very little. If anything here is unclear, please write to us — we'll explain.
02 — What we collect
When you visit this Site, we may collect:
- Contact details you choose to send us by email (e.g. your name, email address, and the contents of your message);
- Basic technical data from your browser (e.g. browser type, country, screen size, referring page) collected by privacy-respecting analytics, when enabled;
- Playtest details if you opt in to a playtest list — your email address, optional device info, and any feedback you send us.
We do not collect biometric, financial, or sensitive personal data through this Site.
03 — How we use it
We use the information to:
- Reply to your emails and provide what you've asked for;
- Understand, in aggregate, how the Site is used so we can improve it;
- Run playtests and follow up with playtesters who opted in;
- Meet our legal obligations.
04 — Sharing
We don't sell your data. We share information only with service providers we rely on to operate the Site and our email — for example, the email provider that delivers your message to our inbox. Each is bound by their own terms and applicable law.
05 — Cookies
The Site uses a minimal set of cookies, or none at all, depending on the page. Where analytics is enabled, we use anonymized, cookieless measurement where possible. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
06 — Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you;
- Ask us to correct or delete it;
- Object to or restrict certain processing;
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

07 — Retention
We keep personal data only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law. Playtest data is deleted when the playtest is closed and any follow-ups have been completed, unless you ask us to keep you on the list.
08 — Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we'll delete it.
09 — Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by other means.
